I let parking lot apologies be– come heated exchanges of red lip tint. I felt forgiveness flow right out of me even when better halves say I shouldn’t. But you, beside me? That’s all I wanted along with that Mezcal mix please, while you sing me this song of the unrequited. Had we space and time, we’d have danced ‘til two, and broke our elevator to the stars like a time machine stuck in the moment looping, repeating, rewinding the part where our lips sparked overloading currents, blacking out my words to write this sonnet replaying like reels on the internet, wishing to overwrite time beyond it.
