Solid
Water for Tea a.k.a. Grace Olguin
with beginning lines from Nikki Giovanni’s
“Just A New York Poem”
i wanted to take
your hand and run with you
together toward
ourselves down the street to your street
picking up a strawberry pie
from your favorite bakery
celebrating with that sweet
look in
your eyes
light up
the room like earth day candles
table set in bed, runny scrambled
eggs with cinnamon toast and a side
of berries blue skies and you
play a song this tender morning
we melt into a
smile
Williamsburg clock tower is humming
our time ticks slowly
but we’re dancing
rocking like stone
and you have me
