Submission Guidelines

There are authors you read because you simply stumble across them. I (Jesse Tovar) believe in befriending authors for that someday I am putting together a literary event. I have done this since 2020, and it has been great.

With that said, I solicit (approach) who ends up on Mobile Data Mag, whether on Substack or on Threads. This digital literary journal is theme-less. However, if you stumble across this newsletter-style website, and you would like to be published in Mobile Data Mag, please email me. My email is located in the About page.

For Systemic Dreaming on Threads, poetry and prose submissions MUST be 500 characters or less. If the 500 character submission is too formatically unique, it will be placed on Substack.

For Mobile Data Mag on Substack, there is NO word limit for poetry and prose submissions. That is the rule, until I find out for myself what is truly Substack’s word and character capacity.

Translations of poetry and prose by other authors are welcome, as long as I know you translated it! You also must have the blessing of the author you are translating or the blessing of the author’s estate (referring to authors who have passed away) before submitting. An example of what I am talking about can be found on Threads. Short translations that are over 500 characters but only one screenshot long will also be included on Threads. Long translations will be placed on Substack.

Mobile Data Mag, like most literary journals, prefers unpublished writing. Previously published writing is accepted as long as Mobile Data Mag is notified about that. All writing that has been published elsewhere before will have a note at the end of the poem or prose piece. In the event new work(s) published by Mobile Data Mag and/or Systemic Dreaming are reprinted in collections, etc., Mobile Data Mag asks to be credited as the site wherein the work first appeared.

ALL submissions cannot contain problematic rhetoric, hate speech, racist content, sexism, LGBTQ+phobia, etc. Mobile Data Mag is a readable safe space.

Preferably, a single submission (one for Substack, one for Threads, one for short translation, one for long translation) should be sent in a doc. file, especially when pieces afterward, are for consideration for nominations to award anthologies. Your email should also include your short bio. In other words, no more than 1-4 submissions per year!

If your submission contains more than one piece, Cinnamoroll may forward your other piece(s) to other literary journals/magazines him and I partner with on other endeavors, as long as we have a dialogue and blessing. You will get compensated upon publication in a timely manner from Mobile Data Mag, unless payment is declined by you.

You will be notified of acceptance and publication within a day or two.

Before you contact me, please read and enjoy all who have been published here.
